
A-Level Biology Tuition Services: Terms & Conditions
1. Tuition: General information
A-Level Biology tutorials are conducted exclusively online via Skype, with sessions scheduled between 9am and 3pm. Each tutoring session is customised to meet the specific educational needs of the student, using tailored materials aligned with the relevant A-Level Biology specifications and past exam questions. Upon request, these resources can be shared with students after the session.

*Minimum session duration is 60 minutes for weekday sessions and 90 minutes for evening or Saturday sessions.

Feedback is provided as a detailed typed document, including a summary of key strengths and areas for improvement. Each incorrect response is commented on individually, and repeated errors are addressed consistently.
3. Bookings
Bookings are made for the entire term, with the expectation that students attend all scheduled tutorials at the agreed times, including during academic holidays unless specified otherwise in Condition 4.
For Upper Sixth students, A-Level Biology examinations commence at the end of May or the beginning of June. Tutorial bookings are therefore rescheduled as needed to accommodate exam timetables.
4. Tutorial dates and academic holidays
A-Level Biology tutorials are scheduled during the following term dates:

Autumn Term: 09/09/24 to 25/10/24, and 04/11/24 to 20/12/24.

Spring Term: 06/01/25 to 13/02/25, and 24/02/25 to 04/04/25.

Summer Term: Lower Sixth 22/04/25 to 22/07/25; Upper Sixth 22/04/25 to 23/05/25.
Tutorials will also be conducted during certain academic holidays, with attendance expected unless otherwise agreed:

No tutorials will take place during the following holidays:

Autumn Half-Term: 28/10/24 to 01/11/24

Limited tutorials will be available during the second week of the Christmas holiday (30/12/24 to 03/01/25), primarily for students preparing for January mock exams.
Condition 8 is not applicable during academic holidays.

5. Bank holidays and others
​
A-Level Biology tutorials will continue on the following bank holidays:

At least 48 hours’ notice will be provided if additional holidays are to be observed.
6. Lateness policy
If a Tutee arrives late for a session, no fee adjustments will be made for the time lost. If the tutor is late, the session will be extended, or the lost time will be added to a future session, as agreed by both parties.

7. Cancellation of lessons
a) Tutor-Initiated Cancellations:
The tutor reserves the right to cancel a session at any time. In such cases, an alternative session will be offered. If rescheduling is not possible, no tuition fees will be charged.
b) Tutee-Initiated Cancellations:
The Tutee may cancel a session by providing at least 48 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled without sufficient notice will be charged at the full rate unless the cancellation is due to a family bereavement.
8. Non-attendance
If during term time the Tutee cancels two consecutive sessions (with at least 48 hours’ notice) for reasons other than medical, a fee equivalent to the session cost will be charged for the second missed session. A retainer fee equivalent to the session cost will apply to any subsequent consecutive cancellations.
9. Feedback
Regular feedback is provided to Tutees during A-Level Biology tutorials, focusing on areas for improvement through independent study. Feedback to parents / guardians can be arranged at the end of each half-term via a pre-scheduled phone call upon request.

10. Payment Information
Invoices are issued at the end of each academic half-term, with payment due via BACS transfer within seven days.
Late payments will incur a fee of £35 per week from the first day following the payment due date.

11. Termination of tuition
(a) Mutual Termination:
This agreement can be terminated by mutual consent at any time.

(b) Notice of Termination:
Either party may terminate this agreement by providing at least one month’s notice in writing. During the first month, two lessons’ notice is required from either party.
12. Failure to give notice
If a Tutee fails to provide notice of termination, one month’s tuition fees will be payable in lieu of notice.

13. Limitation of Liability
While the Tutor will make every effort to ensure satisfactory academic progress, results cannot be guaranteed. The tutor is not liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage, including exam performance. No liability is accepted for any issues arising from the use of tutoring services or materials.
14. Events outside of control (Force Majeure)
The Tutor is not liable for any failure or delay in performing obligations due to causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, internet outages, and other unforeseen events. In such cases, no tuition fees will be incurred.
