Expert Online A-Level Biology Tutor with Proven Results

In 2008, I earned a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics from Kings College London, focusing on core biomedical sciences such as physiology, biochemistry, and professional practice. Following this, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and began teaching A-level Biology at a leading sixth-form college in 2010. I now have 14 years of experience of teaching A-level Biology, including expertise in the current linear A-level curriculum.

My academic background is further enhanced by a Masters in Education, where I researched factors influencing A-level Biology exam outcomes. My dissertation, awarded the highest mark in my cohort, provided critical insights into the most effective teaching strategies. During my final years in the classroom, 65% of my A-level Biology students achieved A*-B grades, with all "value-added" scores ranking in the top 10% nationally, and some classes reaching the top 1%.

Personal Biology tutor in winchester

Driven by a passion for education, I transitioned into full-time private tuition after discovering how much I enjoyed one-on-one teaching. While tutoring over the past seven years, I have embedded the proven techniques from my teaching career, along with the evidence-based findings from my Masters research, into my private A-level biology tuition.

I provide targeted support for critical transitions, such as moving from GCSE to Year 1 and from Year 1 to Year 2 of the A-level. Each session focuses on essential skills like factual recall, data handling, knowledge application, and literacy - key components for success in A-level Biology. The structure of each session is however flexible and adapts to the student's current understanding, often revisiting concepts before deepening their knowledge through various techniques. My goal is to equip students with a "toolbox" of strategies, enabling them to confidently tackle the most challenging exam questions.

Additionally, I offer specialised support in specific areas, including:

  • Writing the 25-mark synoptic essay for AQA examinations.

  • Marking and providing detailed feedback on practice examination papers.

My students regularly see significant improvements, with many achieving a two to three grade increase. I am proud to maintain a 100% pass rate, and between 2017 and 2024, the majority of A-level Biology tutees achieved A*-B grades.

I frequently tutor students from prestigious schools and colleges such as Peter Symonds (WJEC/Eduqas), Barton Peveril (AQA), King Edward VI School (Edexcel A), and St Swithun's (OCR Biology A). However, my online A-level biology tutoring has allowed me to work successfully with students from across England, providing them with the personalised support they need to achieve academic success.

As a leading provider of online A-level biology tuition, I offer a flexible and highly effective learning experience tailored to each student's unique needs. My approach is grounded in years of teaching and research, ensuring that every session is both informative and results-oriented.
